sent a Corona-brand typewriter and a letter to a boy getting bullied for his name, Corona. The lucky kid is Corona De Vries, an 8-year-old resident of the Gold Coast. When he found out that Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, were quarantined in Australia while they recovered from their battles with COVID-19, he sent them a letter, asking them how they were doing and letting them know that kids at his school were calling him coronavirus, a not-so-clever spin on his name.
"I heard on the news you and your wife had caught the coronavirus," Corona wrote, Australia's Channel 7 News reports. "Are you OK?" He added that the nickname he was given made him "sad and angry."
