Williams and Noah won silver in the men's 10m synchro final
Tom Daley and Noah Williams paid tribute to their late coach after clinching a spot on the podium in the Paris Olympics. On Monday, Daley and his diving partner, Noah Williams, won a silver medal in the men's synchronised 10m platform final, making it Daley's fifth Olympic medal and William's first.
Overcome with emotions, Williams asks Daley: "Do you want to talk for me?" to which an equally emotional Daley agrees to and takes over the interview, saying: "I've never seen Noah cry in my whole life. Mr Jenkins, 31, was the development lead coach for England’s top diving programme Dive London, and had spent the day before he died training the GB squad after their success at the Tokyo Olympics the summer before. He was "instrumental" in setting up the Tom Daley Diving Academy before his death.
The court was told he had been with two other coaches who left to go for a job while Mr Jenkins swam. Evidence read by the coroner told of how then National Performance Director for British Diving Alexei Evangulov said he was about to sit down for dinner at 7.20pm when a member of hotel staff came up to him and said: “Please come with me, one of your team members is in the pool and he doesn’t go out.
Mr Jenkins was then taken to hospital where doctors performed CPR. The court was told his heart came "in and out" for almost an hour as he fought for his life, but he was pronounced dead at around 9pm.
