Drivers heading to the Jersey Shore are facing higher toll costs on three major roads in New Jersey . The standard cash price at several toll plazas on the Parkway has increased by a dime to $2.30. E-ZPass users continue to receive a discount. This marks the fourth consecutive year of a 3% toll increase on both the Parkway and Turnpike. The revenue generated is used for road operations, maintenance, and long-term capital projects.
While some drivers express frustration over the rising costs, others acknowledge the necessity of the increases for maintaining road quality. Ocean County Assemblyman Greg Myhre, who unsuccessfully advocated for Governor Phil Murphy to halt the toll hikes, highlights the inconvenience caused by congested alternative routes like Route 9.
