SEREMBAN: Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan does not believe Ramadan bazaars as well as non-essential services such as barbershops and launderettes should operate while the movement control order (MCO) is still in force.

The Umno deputy president said there should be no compromise if the government wants to break the chain of Covid-19 infection."The re-opening of barber shops or launderettes must be deferred as there is neither a pressing need nor are these essential services," he said in a statement on Monday .

"The majority of the operators of such businesses are apprehensive and have voiced their concern to reopen when we are in the midst of a pandemic," he said."Every one of us has a role to play to ensure the survival of our community and there is nothing more important than this," he said. "But until that moment comes, our collective job is to break this Covid-19 chain of infection. And to do that, please continue to stay at home and practise social distancing," he said.

These include barbershops and hair salons, hardware and electronics shops, those dealing in hardware items, electric and electronic appliances, optical goods and full service launderettes.
