The current continuity of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the IDW Publishing series just turned 2 '90s cartoon characters into pure nightmare fuel.

This article contains spoilers for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #143 A number of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans were introduced to it through the classic ‘90s Saturday Morning Cartoon, where they didn’t just meet the heroic Turtles themselves, but also the wacky characters they’d encounter with every adventure.
Given that the TMNT comics are and have always been a bit more mature than the movies and shows, it only makes sense that the characters who’ve been included from the classic cartoon would be amped-up a bit in that direction. For instance, Armaggon was originally a fun mutant shark from the future. Now, he’s practically the embodiment of multiversal chaos, biting through timelines and threatening all reality.
The classic mutanimal bull and mole have been reduced to an amalgamated two-headed creature puppeted by their evil creator. Fueled by the dark magic of a Dragon Scale , Groundchuck and Dirtbag became one horrifying creature who did more than scare the Ninja Turtles. Their combined mutant strength made them a legitimate threat, and in the end, that threat had to be neutralized. Leonardo killed Groundchuck and Dirtbag in this issue, bringing a tragic end to their cursed life.
