In 2018, experts flagged safety issues about the Titan submersible.
The Victor 6000 can dive to a depth of 6,000 m and could dislodge Titan if it's stuck on the ocean floor, but would not be able to lift the heavy vessel by itself, but could hook Titan to a surface ship capable of lifting itThe fate of Titan's crew may rest on Paul-Henri Nargeolet - one of those trapped on the submersible, according to a marine friend of his. spoke to Portuguese captain Jose Paulo Viera da Silva who believes 77-year-old Nargeolet could find a solution to this.
"We had to do a lot of manoeuvres to bring it back. It got stuck in the wreck - that was the worst part and everyone was afraid we'd lose them." It tweeted that a fixed wing aircraft conducted a search on Wednesday afternoon spanning 879 miles over the area and that aircraft from"partner agencies" are also scheduled to search.
According to OceanGate, Titan's operator, the sub has a 96-hour oxygen supply in case of emergencies. Earlier, Shahzada Dawood's sister Sabrina told Sky News the family's"sole focus" is on their rescue. Titan 'was not safe', former passenger says He said:"Everyone was nervous - could we reach the bottom or could we return - because sometimes before they had problems with their battery systems by 1,600m... so they have to go back and that was the last possibility in 2021 to make this dive and when we got down, everyone was nervous."
Horizon Maritime owns the Polar Prince vessel which was used to launch the Titan. It lost contact with the submersible around one hour and 45 minutes into its dive on Sunday. He added:"In spite of advances in technology, extreme ocean depths, and for that matter outer space, are hazardous and unforgiving places".
The US Coast Guard projects that the oxygen supply in the Titan submersible will run out at 12.08pm UK time on Thursday.
