Because of Hill's role in the movie Titanic, the post says "it was a pleasure to show them around the birthplace of the ship here in Belfast!" Sean Astin also shared the photos on Twitter and said, "Thanks to everyone @TitanicBelfast who created such a moving and enlightening experience. It was exceptionally cool to be with our friend and colleague Bernard Hill…whose performance in the eponymous film was perfect!!!" The Titanic's Birthplace Explained While many are familiar with the fateful voyage and the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912, as depicted in Cameron's famous film, the birthplace of the ship isn't quite as well-known. In the photos above, Wood, Astin, and Hill are seen visiting the Titanic's birthplace in the heart of Belfast, Ireland on the historic slipways where the ship was built. The world-class visitor attraction, known as Titanic Belfast, is an aluminum-clad museum reminiscent of the ship’s hull. The ship was specifically built in the Harland and Wolff shipyard, as seen above in the photo of Wood and Astin.While the Titanic was built in Belfast, the ship embarked on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England, which is where the Titanic movie begins after its opening prologue. From there, the history of the Titanic is well-known, including the ship striking an iceberg and sinking. Though the movie left out any mention of its birthplace in Belfast, the ship's legacy is a significant part of the city's history and has spawned several visitor attractions and museums, such as the one visited by the Titanic and Lord the Rings stars.
