MANILA, Philippines: Veteran actor Tirso Cruz 3rd expressed his gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for giving him the opportunity to serve and give back to the Philippine film industry and said he would now return to being an actor following his resignation.
It was the first statement released by Cruz who kept mum about the reason for vacating his post, merely citing 'personal reasons.'At the same time, Cruz highlighted the FDCP's achievements under his term such as increased financial support for stakeholders and partnerships to promote Philippine cinema globally over his 19 months of tenure.
I shall always be grateful to all of you,' Cruz said.'This is not the end. I may no longer be the chairperson, but I will always be a part of the FDCP. I will continue to support the Philippine Film Industry as an actor and as a private citizen. Mabuhay ang Pelikulang Pilipino!' he said.On Thursday, FDCP shared photos of Cruz gathering members of FDCP on March 11 for a general assembly to announce his resignation'Since March 6, I am no longer the chairman of FDCP.
