Tina Turner's cause of death has been confirmed as tributes continue to pour in for the music legend. The 83-year-old died peacefully at her home near Zurich, Switzerland, on Wednesday .
Her representative, according to the Daily Mail, has now confirmed that the singer died from natural causes. Tina Turner had been suffering from kidney disease and other illnesses before her death. She first retired from performing in 2009, before suffering a stroke in 2013. She was then diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016, before undergoing a kidney transplant a year later, the Mirror reports. In one of her final social media posts shared just weeks before her passing, Tina urged her fans to "show their kidneys love" as she marked World Kidney Day. "Today is International World Kidney Day. Why is it important? Because kidneys fail without pain.
"My kidneys are victims of my not realising that my high blood pressure should have been treated with conventional medicine. I have put myself in great danger by refusing to face the reality that I need daily, lifelong therapy with medication. For far too long I believed that my body was an untouchable and indestructible bastion. I am therefore delighted to be able to support a new international campaign for kidney health.
"You can read the whole story of my disease on the website www.showyourkidneyslove.com. Here you can find out how your kidneys work, what the risk factors are and how you can keep these important organs healthy. Let’s show our kidneys some love!"
