Oscar contenders Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan, known for their collaborations in Greta Gerwig's films, reunited for Vanity Fair's first-ever Reunited Live event in London. The pair discussed their past projects, current films, and future aspirations.
In Reunited, Awards Insider hosts a conversation between two Oscar contenders who have collaborated on a previous project. It turns out their chemistry in real life is just as adorable. When Chalamet arrives at the BFI Southbank in London on Dec. 18, he swoops in behind Saoirse, wrapping his arm around her neck and whispering in her ear. They huddle together and catch up, and would happily remain there all night.
But it’s time for them to take the stage in front of a sold-out crowd for Vanity Fair’s first-ever Reunited Live. The pair worked together on two Greta Gerwig films, 2017’s Lady Bird and 2019’s Little Women. In both, they play each other’s love interests, volleying their intense energy back and forth. They’ve remained friends ever since. This year, the pair have delivered four captivating performances between them. In The Outrun, Ronan stars as an alcoholic who returns to her home on Orkney Island in Scotland in the hopes of finding recovery and redemption. In Blitz, she stars as a mother searching for her son after he goes missing during the WWII bombings in London. Chalament returned to Arrakis earlier this year to star in the epic Dune: Part Two, then took on the daunting role of playing Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. Here, the pair looked back at how Lady Bird and Little Women shaped them as actors, the challenges of playing real people in their current films, and what type of movie they’re eager to explore in the future.
