– An arctic front moved through southeast Texas overnight, bringing another round of freezing temperatures this weekend. While this cold snap will not be as severe as last weekend’s, residents are still urged to protect pipes, plants and pets before temperatures return to near normal next week.3 a.m. – 6 a.m. Saturday: Temperatures will begin falling below freezing from north to south across southeast Texas. Freezing conditions are expected to persist through about 10 a.m. Saturday. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday. Temperatures in the low to mid 30s, combined with north winds gusting up to 20 mph, will make it feel like the teens to low 20s. Residents planning to be outdoors for extended periods should cover exposed skin to prevent frostbite.Overnight lows:Houston could see lows as cold as 26 degrees.The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch from Saturday evening through Sunday morning due to widespread freezing temperatures.Cold air will gradually retreat eastward on Monday, allowing temperatures to return closer to seasonal averages.
