SALT LAKE CITY — Strong winds were already being felt across much of Utah Friday, ahead of a cold front that is expected to bring heavy snow, including a possible 4-6 inches to valley locations, with much more in mountain areas.A Winter Weather Warning will be in effect for the northern Utah mountains and locations east, while a Winter Weather Advisory is in place for valley locations west of the mountains.
According to the Salt Lake City office of the National Weather Service, the front will stall and become stationary by early evening and"gradually lift back northward as a warm front," meaning it will not pass through southern Utah. "Extreme winds make lift operations unsafe. The safety of our guests and employees is our top priority," the company said, adding that it would possibly reopen for night skiing Saturday if winds calm.
