Seattle’s new head coach needs to right the Seahawks ship quickly and will have to do so against a bitter NFC West rival.
My how the tides have turned. Just as the calendar was flipping to October, the Seattle Seahawks and their fans were riding high with a 3-0 record largely behind the strength of their defense led by rookie head coach Mike Macdonald. Fast forward to today with Seattle coming off embarrassing defensive performances against the Detroit Lions and New York Giants surrendering over 800 yards and 71 combined points. The defense, Macdonald’s specialty, looks toothless.
While Macdonald has turned the keys over to Ryan Grubb, his overall vision for the team is to be a physical presence with a playcalling mix that complements the strengths of their team. Last game against the Giants was a slap to the face of Kenneth Walker III – one of the best running backs in the NFL – who was limited to just five carries after a 3 TD outburst against Detroit on Monday Night Football. Don’t take my word for it, Macdonald said so himself.
