The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to improve their roster ahead of the NBA trade deadline and a new trade scenario involving the Atlanta Hawks has emerged.
The Minnesota Timberwolves were one of the Western Conference's top teams last season, reaching the Conference Finals. However, the team traded away star Karl-Anthony Towns during the offseason, and since then, they haven't been able to replicate that success. Currently, Minnesota sits in seventh place in the standings, but they believe they can be better.
With the NBA trade deadline approaching next week, the Timberwolves could be looking to make a significant move to improve their chances in the postseason.Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World proposed a new trade scenario involving the Atlanta Hawks and Timberwolves, sending an All-Star to Atlanta. The proposed deal would send Julius Randle to the East, while the Timberwolves would acquire much-needed depth. The Atlanta Hawks would receive Julius Randle ($33.0 million), Donte DiVincenzo ($11.4 million), and Joe Ingles ($2.0 million). In return, the Minnesota Timberwolves would receive De'Andre Hunter ($21.6 million), Bogdan Bogdanovic ($17.2 million), Cody Zeller ($3.5 million), and a 2025 first-round pick (LAL). This deal provides the Hawks with a legitimate co-star on offense alongside Trae Young, creating an intriguing two-man game that could benefit both Randle and the Hawks. The Timberwolves, on the other hand, would land role players who better complement Anthony Edwards and can shoot the ball effectively, bolstering the team's rotation. They would also acquire a valuable draft asset for the upcoming draft class. The proposed trade heavily favors Minnesota, and they would likely be eager to make it happen. However, the Hawks might be more hesitant to pull the trigger. Nevertheless, Atlanta has also struggled this season, and shaking things up could be what they need to get back on track
