Tim Burton remains firm that The Nightmare Before Christmas needs no follow-up. The classic Halloween adventure was first released on October 29th, 1993 and remains a cult classic today. Nightmare Before Christmas earned rave reviews and excelled at the box office. Yet, despite its runaway success and the subsequent merchandising explosion, the movie has never received a sequel.

In an interview with IndieWire, Burton explained that he never envisioned any continuation of the hit franchise. There are certain films I don’t want to make a sequel to. I didn’t want to make a sequel to that because it felt like a one-off thing . I didn’t want to have a sequel for ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ because it also felt like a one-off thing. Certain things are best left on their own and that for me is one of them.
