TikTok is facing more lawsuits from a group of states claiming the popular video sharing app is addictive and dangerous for children in a wave of legal battles

TikTok’s powerful algorithm has been a central part of most of the legal challenges it is facing in the U.S. as attorneys general and the federal government have grown increasingly concerned about its effects on users. In a separate lawsuit, Utah’s attorney general said it appears to beOne of the lawsuits filed Tuesday described the algorithm as “dopamine-inducing” that also comes with push notifications creating a sense of urgency to get back on the app.

But TikTok, especially on its “For You” page, is an endless wheel of videos that the app determines a user is likely to be interested in. The social aspect is also less of a factor on TikTok, as many users don’t make videos at all and go on it to scroll through their timelines. The company said it was also disappointed that lawsuits were filed after working with the attorneys general for the last two years.
