Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall informed his former team-mate that he and the Wests Tigers had decided that they needed someone with more experience to assist with the club’s rebuild.
The Wests Tigers and Robbie Farah have agreed to part ways at the end of the season as the embattled club searches for more experience in the coaching ranks to assist Benji Marshall.
Farah, who is off contract at the end of this season, met with Marshall on Wednesday to discuss his future at the club and whether he would continue as Marshall’s assistant in 2025.Marshall, one of Farah’s closest friends having spent more than two decades together at the joint venture club, informed him that he and the club had decided that they needed someone with more experience to assist with the club’s rebuild.
Farah, who has a number of outside business interests, has been mulling over his future for the past month and was unsure if he wanted to remain part of the coaching staff after two tumultuous seasons. Marshall and Farah came to the conclusion that it was in everyone’s best interest for the arrangement to end after this season. The decision was ratified at a board meeting on Monday night.
Sources with knowledge of the situation talking under the condition of anonymity in order to speak freely told this masthead that Farah is relieved with the decision and shares no animosity towards Marshall or the club.Rhett Wyman/SMHFarah, who runs the team’s attack alongside Marshall, will finish up at the end of the season. Fellow assistant coach John Morris, who runs defence, is expected to remain on the football staff.
