On Sunday at 3:24 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning valid until 4:15 p.m. for Monroe and Northampton counties.
Published: Aug. 18, 2024, 3:34 p.m."At 3:24 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Brodheadsville, or 14 miles south of Mount Pocono, moving northeast at 15 mph," says the weather service. "Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible."

When stopping by the roadside is your only option, position your vehicle as far off the road as possible, ideally beyond guardrails. Keep your headlights on and activate emergency flashers to alert other drivers of your position.
