The weekend forecast still looks good in New Jersey with two dry, sunny days expected.

, rain will return in two waves on Friday with strong storms, gusty winds and up to 2 inches of precipitation in the forecast.

Storms aren’t likely to push in until after midnight, with the National Weather Service saying in its morning forecast discussion that it’s targeting the 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. window for rain to get going in eastern Pennsylvania before pushing into New Jersey. Torrential rain might lead to flash flooding through at least Friday morning with more storms possible during the afternoon when highs reach the low to mid 80s. Preliminarily, forecasters expect much of the state to receive 1.5 to 2 inches of rain.

“If there are any severe thunderstorms, the greatest risk would likely be from the Hudson Valley of New York to eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey on Friday,” AccuWeather.com said.Thursday should be an uneventful weather day in New Jersey with dry conditions and mild temperatures.The weekend is looking good with a pair of dry, sunny days Saturday and Sunday with widespread highs in the mid to upper 80s. Nighttime lows will fall into the 60s.

In the meantime, Thursday should pleasant as well with mostly sunny skies, light winds and highs in the upper 80s and a “slim” chance of precipitation.
