BREAKING: Met Office issues seven-hour thunderstorm warning for parts of the North West with heavy rain on way
While the Coronation weekend had mixture of warm weather and sunshine, the Met Office has warned that things will soon take a turn for the worse.
Forecasters warn 'heavy showers and thunderstorms' are likely to cause disruption to travel while damage could be caused to some buildings and structures due to lightning strikes. The storms also run the risk of longer car and bus journey times due to the poorer driving conditions and delays to train services.
The yellow weather warning covers parts of Greater Manchester and Cheshire and at the moment doesn't include Lancashire, Cumbria or Merseyside.Today: A cloudy start with outbreaks of rain. Cloud breaking to give sunny spells and allowing showers to develop. These could be locally heavy and perhaps thundery at times. Breezier with temperatures around average for the time of year. Maximum temperature 16 °C.
