Our Thunder vs. Timberwolves predictions expect a big game from Jaden McDaniels.
While without Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, the Minnesota Timberwolves have had to look for new sources of offensive creation. Anthony Edwards can explode at any moment, but opponents focusing on him makes life more difficult.
The Oklahoma City Thunder has the defense to limit Edwards, but that defense struggled in Minnesota in the game before the All-Star Break.suddenly lacked depth in the post. The roster once built to send big body after big body at Nikola Jokic was now down to Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid. Then that became more of a worry as back spasms sidelined Gobert in the last two games. At that point, Minnesota’s front line is down to Naz Reid and Luka Garza. So, add Jaden McDaniels as a power forward. It has been more successful than you may think, partly because McDaniels has put on more muscle than casual observers have noticed. He has scored 21 points in the last two games without Gobert despite going 2 of 13 from beyond the arc. McDaniels became more aggressive with Randle sidelined. His usage rate has ticked up to 19.3% in the last nine games, compared to 14.9% before Randle’s injury. Also, McDaniels’s scoring has jumped to 17.9 from 10.5 before Randle went down. That should set up some comfort in taking McDaniels to clear his points prop of 15.5, but seeking four more points jumps the odds to +230 from -115. Realize McDaniels has reached 20 points in five of nine games without Randle and the recent ones without Gobert. The massive jump in value fits with those trends, even against the Thunder defense.Just as McDaniels has seen more work without Randle, so has Naz Reid. But Reid has not sacrificed the best part of his game, his shooting. He took 5.1 threes per game before Randle’s injury; Reid has shot from beyond the arc 7.8 times per game in the nine games since Randle’s injury. If he takes just six, he should threaten this prop.Take advantage of the early win payout at bet365, where any pre-game NBA moneyline bet getsOklahoma City opened as a seven-point favorite on Saturday evening, climbing to -9.5 by the night’s end. That spread returned to -8.5 early Sunday afternoon, perhaps a nod toward Gobert playing but more likely a correct market move to within three buckets.Again, that move in the total could suggest Gobert’s back is loosening up, as surprising as that would be.: Our team of experts has thoroughly researched and handpicked each product that appears on our website. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds. In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets. While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.Tony SartoriCopyright © 1995 - 2025 CS Media Limited All Rights Reserved.
