Victoria Shamrocks won't be taking part in Western Lacrosse Association final for first time since 2013
It’s mid-August and they won’t be playing lacrosse.
For the first time since 2013 the Shamrocks will not be taking part in the Western Lacrosse Association final. The Shamrocks ran into a hot goaltender in Game 6 against the Langley Thunder at The Q Centre on Sunday night and not even Jesse King’s four goals could save them. The Thunder got 42 saves from Frank Scigliano and five goals from Chase Scanlan to knock off the Shamrocks 15-10 and win the semifinal series four games to two.
Langley will now take on the Nanaimo Timbermen in the best-of-seven WLA final with Game 1 going Friday night at the Langley Events Centre and Game 2 set for Sunday at Frank Crane Arena. The winner will travel to Ontario for the Mann Cup national championship against the Major Series Lacrosse champion, which will either be the Six Nations Chiefs or Peterborough Lakers.
