Plano police thwarted an organized retail theft operation at a Burlington store, resulting in the arrest of three women and the recovery of $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise. The suspects were identified as Dafeny Yanez, Crystal Rivera, and Gissela Fernandez Yanez.
Plano police apprehended three women and recovered approximately $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise following the exposure of an organized retail theft operation at a Burlington store. Plano police were notified by Burlington 's regional organized crime manager who reported that a group was suspected of removing theft sensors from merchandise at the store around 12:30 p.m. on January 31st.
The Burlington employee informed police that he recognized the women involved from prior theft incidents at other store locations. All three suspects exited the store with the stolen items and were subsequently detained at the scene by Plano police. During the investigation, officers discovered approximately $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise inside the suspects' vehicle. The recovered items were linked to numerous retailers, including Burlington, Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, Ross, Academy Sports + Outdoors, and Target. Authorities returned the recovered merchandise to its respective stores. The suspects were identified as Dafeny Yanez, 34; Crystal Rivera, 34; and Gissela Fernandez Yanez, 42. All three were arrested on charges of theft of property, possession of instruments used for retail theft, engaging in organized criminal activity, and outstanding warrants. Authorities have not disclosed whether additional individuals might be implicated in the organized retail theft ring
