Multiple vehicles involved in crash on I-76 in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County early Saturday morning.
Saturday, July 11, 2026 11:32PMThree people were killed early Saturday after a pickup truck traveling the wrong way on Interstate 76 struck two vehicles head-on, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Troopers were dispatched around 4:50 a.m. to a crash on westbound I76 near mile marker 330. While responding, police said a white Ford pickup began driving eastbound in the westbound lanes. PSP-Philadelphia alerted nearby units as the truck continued the wrong way at a high rate of speed. Troopers reported that the pickup drove directly toward them and fled when they attempted to stop it.
A second attempt to intercept the truck also failed, police said. The pickup then struck two vehicles head-on, killing three occupants. Authorities have not released the victims' names pending notification of relatives. The crash shut down westbound I76 before the Conshohocken curve, with traffic diverted at Exit 338, Belmont Avenue.
The incident is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police Skippack Barracks Criminal Investigation Unit.
