KULAI: Police here have arrested three people for alleged acts of arson and vandalism on behalf of loan sharks.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said police raided three locations in Seri Alam, Iskandar Puteri and Johor Baru between 9am and 2.30pm on Tuesday .Johor police nab loan shark henchmen“ they admitted receiving payment of RM1,300 from a loan shark syndicate to throw a Molotov cocktail at one house and splash red paint on two houses,” he said here on Thursday .
Supt Tok added that police also seized a motorcycle and several items used by the suspects to carry out jobs for the syndicate. They were also investigating the possible involvement of other locals in Kulai as well as suspects from outside the district, he said.According to Supt Tok, none of the three suspects had criminal records.
He added that they had all been remanded until Monday to help with the investigation under Sections 427 and 435 of the Penal Code for causing loss through mischief and committing acts of mischief involving fire respectively.
