A poignant image captured Damari holding up her bandaged hand, two fingers missing from a gunshot wound, became a symbol of the hostages' resilience. Romi Gonen, a 24-year-old modern dancer and choreographer, was kidnapped from the Nova music festival, where she called her parents frantically seeking guidance during the chaos. After hours of hiding, Gonen was taken hostage while attempting to flee the area. Doron Steinbrecher, a 31-year-old veterinary nurse, sent chilling text messages to her mother as Hamas fighters approached her kibbutz home, ultimately being captured. In January, Hamas released a video of Steinbrecher and two other hostages, Daniella Gilboa and Karina Ariev, pleading for their release.
