Three women, Emily Damari, Romi Gonen, and Doron Steinbrecher, were released from Hamas captivity in the Gaza Strip after 15 months. They were met with jubilation upon their return to Israel , reunited with their families who tirelessly advocated for their release. Emily Damari, a 28-year-old soccer enthusiast and veterinary nurse, was abducted from her kibbutz home during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

A poignant image captured Damari holding up her bandaged hand, two fingers missing from a gunshot wound, became a symbol of the hostages' resilience. Romi Gonen, a 24-year-old modern dancer and choreographer, was kidnapped from the Nova music festival, where she called her parents frantically seeking guidance during the chaos. After hours of hiding, Gonen was taken hostage while attempting to flee the area. Doron Steinbrecher, a 31-year-old veterinary nurse, sent chilling text messages to her mother as Hamas fighters approached her kibbutz home, ultimately being captured. In January, Hamas released a video of Steinbrecher and two other hostages, Daniella Gilboa and Karina Ariev, pleading for their release. The families of these women, along with countless others who prayed for their safe return, have now been granted their heartfelt wish
