One of the suspects has seven convictions related to theft or burglary around Northern California.
SAN LEANDRO — Three women were charged with stealing 158 items from a local Marshalls as part of a “blitz operation” headed by the California Highway Patrol, authorities said in court records. The women, aged 31, 50, and 26, were charged with felony grand theft, and two of them were charged with petty theft with two priors, court records show.
One of the women has seven prior felony convictions related to theft or burglary, and the other has five, the criminal complaint says. CHP investigators say the women were identified in an October operation aimed at curbing organized retail theft at the Marina Square Shopping Center in San Leandro. Employees at Marshalls told police the suspects were “known to make fraudulent returns with stolen items at the stores for credit.” The women then promptly attempted to return stolen items worth about $2,800, according to an investigator’s sworn statement filed in court. The defendants were identified as residents of Oakland and Hayward. The charges were filed on Feb. 25, court records show.Miss Manners: I'm appalled that these young women just walk into people's housesAsking Eric: How blunt should I be about my friend's teenage son?$175 million project to reroute traffic between Oakland and Alameda begins 'Nobody told us it was dangerous': Quartz countertop boom linked to incurable lung disease among Bay Area workersHarriette Cole: My 17-year-old's college plan scares me
