FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services is urging people to avoid using three brands of powdered infant formula that were recalled on Thursday, February 18.
The brands are Similac, Alimentum and EleCare. They were recalled due to possible Cronobacter contamination. According to DHSS, Cronobacter is a bacterium, infection from which can cause meningitis and septicemia. The Food and Drug Administration says the three brands should not be used if the first two digits of the container’s code are the numbers 22 through 37.Lastly, if the use-by date is on or after April 1, 2022, it is advised people do not use the product.Most Read
