Three people were arrested Saturday morning after police responded to crowds gathering at a Swatch store at The Domain. APD says that people showed up at the store at 4 a.m. and began arguing and fighting while waiting for the store to open at 10 a.m. The store called the incident in to police, according to APD.
Officers responded to the scene and asked those fighting to leave the premises, giving multiple commands to leave. When crowd members failed to comply, officers ordered them to leave, saying they would be arrested if they did not, APD says. Officers then arrested three people at the scene for criminal trespass.
Police say officers cleared the scene by around 8 a.m. Swatch stores nationwide were set to launch the Bioceramic Royal Pop Collection on Saturday, according to the Swiss watch company's social media. The store has since announced that their Domain location, along with eight other stores across the country, would be closed "in view of public safety considerations.
""Today’s Bioceramic Royal Pop Collection launch saw extraordinarily high demand. Some of our stores had to be closed in accordance with our security staff and local authorities to ensure a safe environment for everyone," Swatch said in a social media post.
