The Cincinnati Reds inked a fan-favorite pitcher to a new contract while three other players entered free agency after contract options were declined.
It was a busy day for the Cincinnati Reds.Earlier Friday, the Reds announced a plethora of roster moves. The moves included outrighting four players -- Nick Martini, Austin Wynns, Tejay Antone and Ty France -- to Triple-A Louisville. France and Martini would elect free agency over their assignment to Triple-A.Later, the Reds announced even more moves -- some that will excite Reds fans and others that will hurt their hearts.
But several other players could be on their way out of the Queen City.Pitcher Nick Martinez, for one, declined his player option, and pitcher Jakob Junis declined his mutual option.Martinez, 34, held a 3.10 ERA across 142.1 innings with the Reds. He bounced between the starting rotation and the bullpen before injuries forced him into a starting role down the stretch of the season. Martinez exceled toward the end of the year and quickly became a fan favorite.
