According to the Supervisor of Elections, 76.62% of registered voters in the county made their voices heard in the general election.
) - Election officials say they’re pleased with voter turnout in Escambia County. Over 80,000 took advantage of the state’s early voting period while another almost 35,000 voted by mail in ballot. More than 48,000 people took to the polls on election day which is just under the 50,000-60,000 voter mark officials were expecting, but overall, they feel like this year’s election was a success.
“We’ve processed a lot of voters who have had change of addresses so that slowed those voters down a little bit but the precincts that I made it to there was no wait,” said Escambia County Supervisor of Elections Robert Bender. “I know after the initial surge this morning I think it was mostly that way for most of the day so glad the voters you talked to had a good experience. That’s what we want and that’s what we strive for.
