Thousands of homeless people have been placed in temporary accommodation during the pandemic.

The government has denied scrapping a programme which has helped house thousands of homeless people in hotels amid theThe ‘Everyone In’ scheme was launched in March to protect those sleeping rough against the virus as the country was put in lockdown. It saw thousands of people put up in emergency accommodation, such as hotels and hostels.

They continued: ‘Any suggestion that the Government is reneging on the commitment set out at the start of this national emergency is entirely wrong. The scheme was first announced earlier in the year as part of a series of measures to protect the public. Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick stated that £3,200,000 would go to councils to help homeless people self-isolate during the pandemic.At the time he said: ‘Public safety and protecting the most vulnerable people in society from coronavirus is this government’s top priority.
