Among them was Paul Nichols, who made a long trek to be part of the celebration. “We drove about 11 hours yesterday to get here, and we've been coming to the weigh-off for a number of years,” Nichols said. “We didn't want to miss it.”Approximately 25 pumpkins were weighed this morning, many grown by local farmers. Event trustee Ernie Weaver believes it's the strong local participation that gives the show its unique charm. The Circleville growers are fabulous people. They're just good, homegrown folks,” Weaver said. “They share their growing secrets with one another. Beyond the competition, the show offers other favorites like Lindsey’s famous pumpkin donuts. For many families, the Circleville Pumpkin Show is a tradition.“My family's probably been coming out here for the last 50 years, but I've been bringing my boys for the last 20,” Felts said.continues to deliver big fun and even bigger pumpkins.
