On Sunday night, thousands of residentsBoth the towns of Montclair and Glen Ridge have declared a state of emergency. Residents are being told to stop all non-essential water use, like watering lawns or washing cars, because of a drop in the water supply.Montclair Mayor Sean Spiller said additional water is being pumped in from neighboring communities, but he warns it may not be enough to avoid a crisis.

"If any of the things we are trying to do fail, the outcome will likely be a loss of water pressure, resulting in a low pressure, boil water scenario, a non-drinkable water declaration, even despite boiling water, or no water at all coming our of the pipes in your homes and businesses," Spiller said.
