Legendary Marvel concept artist Andy Park has revealed the official concept art for Hercules in Thor: Love and Thunder. Hercules first appeared in Marvel Comics in Journey Into Mystery Annual #1 in 1965 and since then the character has been a member of many teams in the Marvel universe including The Avengers, The Defenders, and The Heroes for Hire. The character made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the mid-credit scene of Thor: Love and Thunder played by Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Hercules' costume looked right out of the comics, and that was thanks to the work of Park. Park joined the Visual Development team at Marvel Studios in 2010 and has helped design many of the iconic MCU characters. In 2015 he was promoted to Visual Development Supervisor and his work was most recently shown at D23 for the official lineup for the Thunderbolts film.
Where Hercules Could Next Appear Park's comment about seeing Hercules clash with another MCU character but no specific one indicates that even the key artist at Marvel Studios is unsure about the character's future. The mid-credit scene for Thor: Love and Thunder seemed to imply a showdown between Hercules and Thor, yet currently there has been no announcement for another Thor film making Hercules MCU's future unclear.
Following the success of Werewolf by Night, Hercules could star in a Marvel Studios Special Presentation of his own. While the next Special Presentation is another holiday-themed one, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, it was recently rumored that the studio is looking at non-holiday-themed Special Presentations.
