With Google searches for “face mask” up by 233 per cent from this time last year, it’s clear people are pampering themselves more than ever at the moment.
Before you dismiss this as yet another TikTok phenomena waiting to happen, the skincare benefits of Yakult, which famously contain 20 billion unique L. casei bacteria in every bottle, were actually trending as early as the 1930s. Along with a hair rinse and a hand and foot scrub, Yakult have released instructions for making this ‘Restorative Face Mask’, which is made with just five ingredients that can probably be found in most kitchens. It promises a gentle exfoliation while also replenishing and nourishing the skin – which sounds exactly what we need right now.· Coconut oil – 1 heaped teaspoon · Yakult Original or Yakult Light – ¼ of a freshly opened bottle 1. Mix all the ingredients together .
After mixing everything together and leaving it to soak for about 10 minutes, the mixture resembled a thick, gluey porridge – certainly not something I was excited about smearing over my face, to be honest.
