Week 3 high school football preview: Steele-Brandeis and other San Antonio area games to watch
Top-ranked Steele finds itself in another matchup against the area’s No. 2 team. This time it’s Brandeis. Here’s a look at that game and some of the other top games from around the area. Top games Steele vs. Brandeis, 7 p.m. Saturday, Gustafson Stadium: Steele , the Express-News ' No. 1 Class 6A team, easily handled previous No. 2 Reagan 62-34.
High school football Game of the Week: Central Catholic vs. Holy Cross Pieper at Davenport, 7 p.m. Friday: Pieper , the Express-News' No. 2 Sub-6A team, is coming off an impressive 38-24 victory against Johnson. The Warriors are averaging 311.0 passing yards. Davenport utilizes a tough ground game led by junior running back Barrett Fallon, who has 458 yards and four touchdowns in two games. He had 244 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-34 win against Kerrville Tivy.
San Antonio-area high school football: Week 3 schedule, matchup details Under the radar game Memorial vs. Kennedy, 7 p.m. Friday: These Edgewood ISD rivals might be winless, but that won’t take away from their communities' excitement for the Salsa Bowl. This season’s matchup is a non-district contest with Memorial and Kennedy in separate Class 4A divisions. Kennedy leads the all-time series 40-16. The Minutemen defeated Kennedy 20-6 last year.
