He's recently retired from touring, but the Prince of Darkness' visit 37 years ago will never be forgot.
Ozzy Osbourne and his manager, Sharon Arden , leave the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Feb. 19, 1982, after he was arrested for urinating on the Alamo Cenotaph.Thirty-seven years ago Tuesday, vocalist Ozzy Osbourne was photographed leaving the Bexar County jail with his manager by his side and a goofy grin on his face. He had just been released after, earlier in the day, picking up a charge for urinating on the Alamo Cenotaph.
The intoxicated rock star spent the afternoon in jail before being bonded out for $40 — and then performing for a sold-out crowd at HemisFair Arena later that night, where he boasted about the incident, according to former Express-News reporting.Osbourne was barred from performing at any city-owned facilities for 10 years, Express-News archives show.
The 1982 incident, though the most notorious, was not Osbourne's only time defiling San Antonio's trademark site. In 2016, the heavy metal legend reverted to profanity when, on a new reality TV show, his son informed him they would be visiting the Alamo.
