The survey combed through the top Thanksgiving recipe Google searches by state over the past year and found that vegetarian dishes are some of the most searched for nationwide.
The data highlights a growing interest in vegetarian dining and swapping out meat for vegetarian entrees, the study says. Research from the found that as of January 2022, 10% of U.S. adults over the age of 18 consider themselves vegan or vegetarian. That’s up from just 5% in 2018.“Traditionally, Thanksgiving is a very turkey-focused celebration, so it’s great to see a rising appreciation for vegetarian and vegan recipes across the nation,” said Kerri Ferraioli, an expert nutritionist at YorkTest. “Butternut squash is a great source of antioxidants, including vitamin C and vitamin E.
Typically, stuffed butternut squash recipes call for filling the hollowed-out squash with a mixture of grains and other vegetables, which makes the dish a good option for vegans, but meat and dairy can easily be incorporated. Here are a few recipes to try if you want to add stuffed butternut squash to your Thanksgiving lineup:
