“Cliche as it sounds, it’s been a dream come true for the community, for the league — and certainly for the boys,"On Thursday, Lone Peak’s win was fueled by Benson Gunn, who hit a pair of three-run homers before the mercy rule ended the contest. Friday’s game will be a rematch against a Nevada team that beat Lone Peak earlier in the week. The Utah team led 12-3 at one point, but ended up losing 22-12. “I’m so excited to get Nevada again and have a rematch,” Gunn said on the ESPN broadcast after Thursday’s win. “They’ve got some good pitchers, but we’ve got some good hitters. It’ll be a fun game.” Robertson added that Lone Peak is the first northern Utah team to represent the state in the regionals since Taylorsville in 2004. In 2022, a team from Snow Canyon became the first team from Utah to ever advance to the Little League World Series
