The company had plenty of buzz when it launched earlier this decade, but, like so many others in the e-mobility space, it has found it difficult to turn that into actual sales. Premium pricing, less-than-stellar range, and a lack of models that appeal to Harley-Davidson’s core audience have all contributed to its struggle,. But, rather than continue down this path, it would appear that the brand has decided its time to try something new.is. The two-wheeler, which was first teased during its Milwaukee Homecoming event last summer, is being positioned as a lightweight, entry-level model, which is something missing from LiveWire’s current city-centric lineup. That’s not to say that the Honcho should be viewed as less capable than its predecessors, even if it will likely be priced below them. Instead, it would seem that fun and utility are the focus this time around. We’re still waiting for the final details, but the S4 Honcho is naked mini-moto with an upright stance. Despite its dirtbike-like look, it will be sold in two distinct configuration: Street and Trail. The first, is a street-legal bike that features an LED display, road suspension, and street tires. The second, is designed for off-road use and features increased ground clearance, a trail-ready suspension, and all-terrain tires. Both models will utilize LiveWire’s new S4 platform, come with two swappable batteries, and likely fall under the 125cc-equivalent class, according to New Atlas. This means output will probably come out to around 15 hp. We’ll have to wait for performance numbers, but early testing suggests a top speed of 53 mph and a range of 100 miles.Intrigued by LiveWire’s attempt to do something new. The company’s website says it hopes to begin production of both Honcho models at some point this spring.
