Their best song was both lots of work and easy to write.

Huntsville rock band Camacho changed the chorus like five times before finding the right one. The basic chord changes and lyrics though came earlier, in a quick burst.

They ended up with an alt-rock anthem and Camacho’s latest single, “Something To Do.” With its hooks, crunch and urgency, the track sticks its fangs in quickly. The accompanying music video is a sharp black-and-white performance clip. If the year was 1994, “Something To Do” would be MTV Buzz Bin material. Camacho guitarist Andrew “AC” Segler says, “We’re just trying to write stuff we want to listen to ourselves.

“Something To Do” benefits from singer/keyboardist Joe Canada’s bold vocals and relatable lyrics. “I was just thinking how sometimes it’s all too much,” Canada says of the song’s lyrical inspiration. “Everything you’re hearing, everything you’re seeing and everything that’s in our faces every day. I just wanted something to do, to get my mind off that.”

While “Something To Do” is the flagship, the young combo’s entire 25-song or so catalog is tuneful. “Fragments,” another recent Camacho single, is guitar-pop bliss. Earlier standouts include the melancholic “Saints” and sugar-grunge track “Wrong.” If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
