Lenny Burnham grew up in Missoula, Montana. From an early age, he was obsessed with TV and loved creating websites and participating in fan forums for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He attended New York University, where he studied Dramatic Writing with a focus in Television Writing.
Community’s holiday episodes normally highlight what a sanctuary friends can be as opposed to family during the holidays. The Christmas episodes often actually take place in early December, rather than Christmas, since that’s when the characters are still with their college friends.
