Summary Bryan Cranston’s first return to the crime genre after his acclaimed turn in Breaking Bad was the dark comedy series Sneaky Pete – and it was canceled way too soon. Although it struggled in the ratings in its first couple of seasons, Breaking Bad quickly became the poster child of “Peak TV.
” The so-called Golden Age of Television was epitomized by Vince Gilligan’s twisted tale of a high school chemistry teacher who becomes a meth kingpin to pay for his cancer treatments. Cranston was already a well-known actor from his roles in Seinfeld and Malcolm in the Middle, but Breaking Bad got him inducted as one of the world’s greatest actors. Cranston earned four Emmy Awards for playing Walter White and a further two Emmys for producing the show. After the phenomenal success of Breaking Bad, Cranston could do whatever he wanted in the TV world – and he used that freedom to co-create his own series. Bryan Cranston Followed Up Breaking Bad With Sneaky Pete Cranston wasn't the lead, but he did act in it Two years after Breaking Bad ended its historic five-season run, Cranston premiered his next crime series, Sneaky Pete, on Prime Video. The series tells the story of a recently released convict, Marius Josipović, played by Giovanni Ribisi, who adopts the identity of his cellmate, Pete Murphy, in order to steer clear of his past life. Cranston co-created the series with House creator David Shore; he even wrote an episode and directed another. Cranston didn’t play the lead role in Sneaky Pete, but he did act in the show. In season 1, he played the recurring role of the series’ main villain, Vince Lonigan. Vince is a notorious gangster who wants to find Marius. Marius made a very powerful enemy in Vince when he unsuccessfully tried to pull a con on him. Vince has wanted revenge ever since. This was an interesting role for Cranston’s follow-up to Breaking Bad. Rather than playing a hero who turns into a villain, he just played an out-and-out villain. Why Sneaky Pete Was Canceled After 3 Seasons & Why It Deserved More Sneaky Pete had a lot more potential for future seasons Amazon canceled Sneaky Pete in 2019 after three seasons of 10 episodes each. The series was always great, but it got even better throughout its run. The third season has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%. This show went from strength to strength, so it didn’t make sense to cancel it just when it was hitting its stride. Sneaky Pete is unlikely to make a comeback five years after it last aired new episodes, but it would be great to see a season 4. sneaky pete Sneaky Pete was created by Bryan Cranston and David Shore and stars Giovanni Ribisi, Shane McRae, Marin Ireland, and Libe Barer.
