Meet one of Santa Fe’s best dressed duos.
Serious art and fashion lovers flock to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The city is filled with unique vintage shops and renowned art galleries, and one could spend days bopping around all the different shops and museums—and the best part is the locals are just as fashion-forward. In fact, there’s one particular duo in the city who are well-known for their eclectic and exuberant style: Meet Orren Davis Jordan and Robert Parker, one of Santa Fe’s best dressed pairs.
Jordan, a retail consultant and stylist, and Parker, a hairstylist, first met in Santa Fe back in 1978. It was love at first sight. “Robert applied for a hairdressing position at a salon where I was the manager,” Jordan says. “I remember vividly that he was wearing green army pants, a pale yellow shirt, and loafers with no socks. Wearing no socks today is quite the norm, however in 1978, this was shocking.
Parker, meanwhile, says he enjoys dressing as different “characters,” and that what he wears depends on his mood. “My personal style is eclectic, high and low,” Parker says. “Depending on the day, it can be flannel with jeans, or a wig with a dress. No rules of gender! I also have a growing collection of silver jewelry, usually with no stones.”
Although they each hold their own distinctive inspirations and style curiosities, they do often swap pieces, and even share a closet. “We can wear each other’s clothes and put them together completely differently,” Parker says. Jordan adds, “Robert is a little more casual than I am. I prefer a more pulled together and matched from head to toe. I also tend to accessorize more.
