Researchers have created new bioplastic pellets that could offer a more sustainable and safer alternative to plastic.
Researchers may have found a realistic alternative to plastic. The alternative comes in the form of a newly developed 'bioplastic' pellet, which could prove to be more sustainable than the current plastics we use in bottles and other objects.
The researchers describe the pellets as 'closed loop' materials and say they designed them from wheat straw, marine polysaccharides, and eggshells. Because of their natural derivements, the pellets can also break down in soil, providing fertilization for crops. On reason these bioplastic pellets are especially intriguing is the fact that they can help cut down on phosphate rock mining.
