The art market is hoping for a sales boost when Sydney Contemporary opens to the public on Thursday.
In its eighth edition, Sydney Contemporary will present 86 galleries showcasing more than 400 contemporary artists and 1000-plus works at Carriageworks over four days.
Savvy collectors can pick up a Chuck Close print for $125,000 and a Pablo Picasso ceramic for $85,000.Advertisement “The Emily Kame Kngwarreye painting we are taking is not just any Emily work,” Hodges said. “This is a painting on a grand scale, a painting of the highest quality, a painting where you can see the artist exploring and engaged.
“Paper represents such a good opportunity, a platform to show the best art practice and introduce future collectors to the joy of buying and living with the best art,” curator Akky van Agtrop said.
