“It takes a village,” says Ross, who credits much of his success in making business connections to his participation in the Dodgers Accelerator program, a joint initiative between the Los Angeles Dodgers and design and marketing consultancy R/GA Ventures that identifies and supports startups at the intersection of sports and entertainment. The team has started vetting applications, a process Ross describes as ongoing, in that there will be no limit to how many companies can join. “The more registered companies in our system, the better,” he says. “When we think about the coalition, we think of it as an alliance to bridge the wealth gap.”
