“He got some pressures and had some really good reads,” A&M coach Jimbo Fisher said of Johnson’s performance against Miami. “He … made the plays and had a touchdown throw — no turnovers, managed the game well, managed the clock and snaps, got plays in and out, and controlled the line of scrimmage with a snap count.Johnson’s next task is greater: avenging the Aggies’ 20-10 loss to Arkansas in Arlington a year ago, although he was still playing for LSU at the time.
“It was very difficult,” Fisher said of pulling King for Johnson two games into the season. “Quarterbacks get all the glory and take all the blame. Haynes had some things he could have done better, and he could have played better, and I’ve said that before. But it was not all him what was going on. The guys around him could have made some plays at times and blocked and did some things, too.
