I was thinking about Cleveland’s dilemma while I waited for the shuttle bus in Seattle. And waited. And waited.

A good friend of mine was in town for a wedding in August and said the shuttle line at the Maplewood Avenue rental car facility was so long he ended up calling for an Uber to get to terminal. He was afraid he would miss his flight if he waited his turn for the shuttle. Unlike the plan to rebuild the terminal, which is expected to be funded primarily by the airlines doing business at Hopkins, a new car-rental facility would be paid for primarily by the car rental companies and the travelers who use them.to pay for the relocation of the facility. The fee has raised $11.8 million so far, according to the airport.
Moving the rental car facility, he said, “would greatly heighten the experience of users. It would be a great step forward.”Meanwhile, in Seattle, there are no plans to relocate the consolidated car rental facility, new in 2012, back to the main campus.
